Hi Raman,
You can do like this

<xsl:if test="mygarden/fruits != ''">
<!-- evaluates to true if node fruits contains data
-->
   do something
</xsl:if>

or

<xsl:if test="mygarden/fruits = ''">
<!-- evaluates to true if node fruits does not contain
data -->
   do something
</xsl:if>
