sorry for the lack of clarity I have put together the following but to no avail... I am a beginner to this so probably making some really stupid obvious mistakes. <xsl:template match="root"> <root> <artefact doc_ref="{$DOC_REF}" type_id="1"> <xsl:apply-templates select="data"/> </artefact> </root> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="data"> <before> <xsl:value-of select="."/> </before> <xsl:apply-templates select="data[.='Functional Requirements']"/> <xsl:apply-templates select="data[.='Functional Requirements']/following-sibling::data[following-sibling::data[.='Design Derived Requirements']]"/> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="data"> <after> <xsl:value-of select="."/> </after> <xsl:apply-templates select="data[.='Design Derived Requirements']"/> <xsl:apply-templates select="data[.='Design Derived Requirements']/following-sibling::data"/> </xsl:template> the sort of output I want is the text in the first sections in <before> tags and the text in the second section in <after> tags.... does this help explain myself better? --- David Carlisle <davidc@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > Your description wasn't so clear but perhaps > > <sec> > <xsl:apply-template select="data[.='Functional > Requirements']"/> > <xsl:apply-template select="data[.='Functional > Requirements']/following-sibling::data[following-sibling::data[.='Design > Derived Requirements']]"/> > </sec> > <sec> > <xsl:apply-template select="data[.='Design Derived > Requirements']"/> > <xsl:apply-template select="data[.='Design Derived > Requirements']/following-sibling::data"/> > </sec> > > as always this could be made more efficient using > keys (or xslt 2 > draft's xsl:for-each-group, which makes this kind of > thing much easier) > > David > > ________________________________________________________________________ > This e-mail has been scanned for all viruses by > Star.
