> I didn't used select="node()", but just called <xsl:apply-templates > />, so it would be applied to all descendant recursively I think <xsl:apply-templates/> is equivalent to <xsl:apply-templates select="node()"/> In both cases templates are (just) applied to child nodes. Themplates will be applied recursivly to other nodes if the templates that are applied by this call do themselcves call apply-templates.
