Hello Piotr and JATS List, It's not designed as a JATS or BITS reader but it's an STS reader, a little improved since being announced on the STS List a few months back, and 'friendly enough' to other formats in the NISO JATS family: https://pages.nist.gov/xslt-blender/sts-viewer/ Focused on a working subset (application profile) of NISO STS, it can now handle JATS and BITS as well to some extent. This project is on the JATS-Con program for presentation in June - although it is meant more as a demonstration than a service, so not everyone's hot beverage -- still, some may enjoy, and there is indeed a model for extension and reuse, as it is open source. Apart from the adopt-a-pet aspect, Its biggest limitation is probably that as an XSLT 1.0 application there is a fairly straitened 'box' of useful functionality it can't easily get out of - this also perhaps being a good thing ... particularly as it is intended to be supplementary to, not a replacement for, more 'stringent' validation and production processes. Unfortunately, no responses so far. I'm exploring different options but haven't made enough progress to share it yet. I'll be happy to do it once I have something more tangible. I don't know how the display BITS with the eLifeLens viewer. But I guess, you're not the only person interested in such a thing. Have you made any progress in the meantime? I am a member of the team working with WHO. One of the things we developed was an online reader based on eLifeLens open-source application. Our online reader can read and display JATS files. Our goal is to enable the reader to read and display BITS files as well, allowing users to read books online. Question 1: Are there existing BITS converters for eLifeLens? eLifeLens is an extendable application. It uses a so-called "converter" to read a specific file type. eLifeLens comes with an in-built converter for JATS, but I could not find a converter for BITS. It would be a waste of time and resources to develop it from scratch if someone has already done this job. Any ideas? Question 2: Are there existing readers that can read both JATS & BITS? If I cannot make eLifeLens understand BITS easily (ideally by re-using an existing converter), one option would be to replace the online reader. I noticed that NCBI seem to have a reader capable of displaying both journals and books. Perhaps their reader is what I am looking for? Could anyone here advise by first confirming my observation (that they can indeed display both JATS and BITS) and second by elaborating a bit on their reader and its potential for reuse? Many thanks in advance for your help.
