 <xsl:template match="/">
   <xsl:copy>
     <xsl:apply-templates select="node()|@*"/>
   </xsl:copy>
 </xsl:template>

You can skip this template, copying the document node doesn't add to the result tree..

 <xsl:template match="@*">
   <xsl:attribute name="{local-name()}">
     <xsl:value-of select="." />
   </xsl:attribute>
 </xsl:template>

 <xsl:template match="comment() | processing-instruction() | text()">
   <xsl:copy />
 </xsl:template>

 <xsl:template match="node()">
   <xsl:element name="{local-name()}">
     <xsl:apply-templates select="node()|@*"/>
   </xsl:element>
 </xsl:template>

To be more accurate, you should use match="*" here..

Cheers,
Geert
