That kind of supplier loyalty leaves me gobsmacked.

Even if you're planning to wait indefinitely, is it really good tactics to
tell Microsoft this is your plan?

I saw a nice line in an old advertisement for precision machine tools:


  "If you know you need new tools, and you haven't yet acquired them,
   you're already paying for them."
