Mr. Mike Mika: if you are reading the list right now, please consider
including a chapter or two on optimization in your "2600 Programming for
Dummies" project. I am learning that optimization is a very important part
of programming in such a constrained environment as the 2600, particularly
when your goal is to create a 2k or 4k program usable by anyone without
additional hardware or specialized EPROMs. The difference of a few bytes
here and there is far more critical here than in most development done today.
I believe that a set of optimization techniques would be invaluable to all
the beginning ML programmers who are taking up ML to bring new games to
life for the 2600. I also believe that other members of this listserv will
share this opinion.
