you probably don't have the latest pdftex.def driver for the LaTeX
graphics bundle. see http://www.tug.org/applications/pdftex/pdftex.def

png files dont have a BoundingBox (obviously); the driver loads the
PNG file at natural size into a PDF object and then measures what it
just did. should work as expected
