Subject: MIF backend and Images: a solution? From: Karl Critz <kcritz@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Fri, 25 Sep 1998 16:39:02 -0400 |
Now that JADE supports the MIF backend as part of the standard distribution, I have been playing around with it and enjoying the ability to produce frame-readable documents. One of the known bugs in the backend (from mif.htm) is the fact that it renders images in a 1x1 frame and overlaps them over nearby paragraphs. The authors claim in the documentation that this is because they need to know the size of the image in order to set the frame size and would rather not use external software to get this information. This makes sense, but wouldn't an acceptable workaround for this shortcoming be to make the user responsible for providing size information? The GRAPHIC tag has width and depth attributes which are used to show image size. Would it be possible to have the MIF backend simply honor these attributes if they are supplied? I would be willing to compute these numbers on my own if it meant good-looking MIF output. Anyone else have thoughts on this matter? -karl --------------- Karl Critz The Mathworks Inc mailto:kcritz@xxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.mathworks.com/ voice: 508.647.7000 x7768 24 Prime Park Way fax: 508.647.7002 Natick MA 01760 DSSSList info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/dsssl/dssslist
