I *think* I installed: - pdftex-0.12o-8 - web-7.2a.tar.gz - web2c-7.2b.tar.gz - pdftexlib-0.12 - latex (latest from ctan) - babel (latest from ctan) - latex/graphics (latest from ctan) - latex/hyperref (latest from ctan) - latex/tools (latest from ctan) - jknappen/ec fonts (needed some tools as well) - type 1 fonts (from Corel 6, needs fontinst) - more type 1 fonts (from FrameMaker, just symlinked .pfa files) - jadetex - patches from jadetex/cooked This leaves me with the following directories: - texmf - web2c - tex - generic - babel - config - fontinst - latex - amsfonts - base - config - fancyhdr - graphics - hyperref - minitoc - misc - ot2cyr - psfonts - tools - jadetex - pdftex - base - plain - texinfo - makeindex - fonts - afm - pfm - pk - source - tfm - type1 - vf This was all on top of an existing installation here, of who knows what version of TeX (I think it is teTeX04-0.1, what ever that is, but I am not sure). There is lots of material in our tex tree, but little of it is actually used with this setup (mostly fonts). But then, I only use pdfjadetex, i.e. pdftex with jadetex as the preloaded format. Feel free to ask me more details, but beware that I have little TeX experience. It was really difficult for me to figure out how to set this up for myself, but it seems to work at least satisfactorily now. As for instructions, they usually tell you to `copy these files to the appropriate directories', as if I was supposed to know what appropriate should mean (and sometimes you'll have to guess what files the author is talking about). I ended up figuring all that out through lots of trial and error... Cheers, //lat -- With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine. However, this is not necessarily a good idea. It is hard to be sure where they are going to land, and it could be dangerous sitting under them as they fly overhead. --RFC1925, "The Twelve Networking Truths" DSSSList info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/dsssl/dssslist
