So you can't use 'protect' or anything to keep together?  What goes
wrong with using penalties?

In case I feel like hacking on it, can Sebastian tell me: the
keep-with-next stuff *is* being sent by the TeXFOT backend to jadetex,
right?  It's just that jadetex isn't currently implementing that
functionality in LaTeX?

Sebastian, any other history of failed attempts to fix this?
