Handling PIs?

Hello World,

I think I've seen this float by, but I can't find it now and I
can't find an answer in the spec.

If I have a document that contains,

  blah blah blah<?foo _newline>yada yada yada

How can I introduce something into the output at the position
where <?foo _newline> occurs (in this case, a newline,
obviously)?
