Subject: Alpha release of XSL-to-DSSSL translator From: "Henry S. Thompson" <ht@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Tue, 28 Oct 1997 23:00:19 GMT |
I'm pleased to announce the alpha release of xslj, a Jade-compatible XSL-to-DSSSL translator. XSL is the eXtensible Style Language, proposed as the language for style sheets for XML in "A Proposal for XSL" (http://www.w3.org/TR/NOTE-XSL.html). XSLJ is a virtually complete implementation of XSL by way of translation into extended DSSSL, as supported by the latest test release of James Clark's DSSSL engine Jade. XSLJ translates valid XSL style sheets into valid extended DSSSL style sheets, which can then be used to render XML documents using Jade. Virtually all of XSL as described in "A Proposal for XSL" is supported, although some minor modifications have been necessitated by the exigencies of implementation, all of which are described in detail in material contained in the release. Sources and executables for Win32 and Un*x (Solaris and FreeBSD) are available without charge to all. For more information including download instructions, see http://www.ltg.ed.ac.uk/~ht/xslj.html The construction of XSLJ was supported by the UK Economic and Social Research Council via their support for HCRC and by a grant from Microsoft. ht -- Henry S.
