Have you tried StarOffice? It's available not only for Windows and OS/2 but also, I think, for all major Unix platforms - and the Linux version is free. (You also get the new version, 4.0, if you buy a new Sun workstation.) Version 3.1 for Linux should be available from Sunsite and its mirrors. I use it for testing the output of Jade's RTF backend, although I must admit the package is *very* large and uses a lot of resources. But I know of no other way to read RTF under Unix. I would be happy to learn of one, however...
