I had two problems with external-graphics. One is that, when
unspecified, the scale defaults to 100 instead of 1. Another, specific
to the JadeTeX macros, is that when there is a uniform scaling, the
syntax \includegraphics[scale=\ScaleX]{#2} is used instead of
\scalebox{\ScaleX}[\ScaleY]{\includegraphics{#2}}. Emprically, I
found that forcing the latter prevents errors like the one you report.
