We use DocBook here and I've written a modest user manual that
explains, among other things, how to make links (within a
document, and to external documents). The specific page for
links is:

    http://www.nmt.edu/tcc/help/pubs/docbook/t1478.htm

The starting page is:

    http://www.nmt.edu/tcc/help/pubs/docbook/t1.htm

There is a PostScript version at:

    http://www.nmt.edu/tcc/help/pubs/docbook/writing.ps

Hope this helps.
