Actually, I think there already is a superior DSSSL tool for online
applications.
I am thinking of the SENG engine which runs on the JVM,
and is fully interoperable with Java code.
That should mean that it can be used fairly seamlessly with API's like
Servelets, Applets, Beans, Serialization and Java Server Pages.
For other Java APIs worth integrating with,
check out http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com and http://java.apache.org
(and of course javasoft)

When I posted my query about SENG a few weeks ago
I received a reply from Alex saying that,
although he no longer owned SENG,
he would take steps to try and make it OpenSource

It is my opinion that as work moves towards XML and net-based
applications
an environment like SENG will become essential.
I, therefore, hope that there is sufficient interest to make it worth
Alex's time.
I might even volunteer to maintain SENG if that is what it takes ;).
