Even if not, it certainly supports an FSI.  "<osfd>0" refers to
standard input.

I've never tried it, but you should be able to supply "<literal>$LOGNAME"
(or similar) as one of the the system-ids forming the document.

Or your Makefile could stash the value in a file known to your
stylesheet (you do use make, yes?).
