    I don't know, Dave. The fact is that XSL and DSSSL
    documents, at least the ones I have seen or written (just a
    few!) have very similar structures. So, if I am able to
    write down a set of rules to transform one into another
    one, I should be able (with a good deal of time, maybe) to
    write a translator ;

Do you have lots of different stylesheets?
If its not too many, it may be worthwhile just doing it manually?
With a basic imported XSL stylesheet,
just generate the attribute sets to match the dsssl templates?

I know you can generate 'default' stylesheets, i.e. one XSLT
template for every element in an xml instance, which takes out
some of the typing.

If there are many different stylesheets without common processing,
perhaps it is worth trying to automate it.
