Hi Laura,

I want to use the same model for the entire archive to avoid having to program
for different models, and prefer the more restrictive Blue model as it helps
to enforce tighter markup.

Maybe I've made a rod for my own back ....

This might be a dumb question, but isit at all possible for you to use Green
for this part of your project? The archiving model allows <etal> in <contrib>
for this very reason:

I need to convert a large archive to JATS. One problem I have is that many of
the articles use an <etal>-like element (with content) to substitute for a
number of authors. In JATS, <etal> is allowed within the <element-citation>
and <mixed-citation> (and other) elements, but not anwhere within
<contrib-group>. I'm looking for suggestions as to how to model this in

Thanks in advance,
