Subject: [jats-list] An outstanding question regarding the JATS4R CredIT recommendation From: "Kelly McDougall kmcdouga@xxxxxxx" <jats-list-service@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Thu, 25 Apr 2019 22:03:57 -0000 |
Hello all, The JATS4R group is preparing to finalize the draft recommendation on the inclusion of the CRediT taxonomy in JATS XML. Before the recommendation is published we are putting out the call for one final found of feedback around one outstanding question. Specifically, the question has arisen about the best method for identifying individual contributions that are outside the CRediT vocabulary but apply directly to the development/creation of the content in question. At the moment the draft recommendation acknowledges such contributions but does not provide explicit instruction around how to include them in the metadata. The current recommendation (in draft form) can be found here: https://jats4r.org/credit-taxonomy Itbs possible that this question is beyond the scope of the CredIT recommendation and applies more broadly to the <role> element, but we would be curious to hear what others have to say on this question and whether there are any suggestions for how to account for the above scenario using both JATS 1.1 and 1.2, or just 1.2 if necessary. Is this something that the recommendation should anticipate and, if so, might it warrant a separate, if related, recommendation on the use of <role> as a means of identifying individual contributions? All the best Kelly McDougall
