Hi Jeff,

My proposal (in the JATS change request) is to allow <disp-quote> as a child
of <textual-form>, so that we can identify speakers, e.g. at XPath:

//fig/alternatives/textual-form/disp-quote/speech

https://groups.niso.org/apps/group_public/view_comment.php?comment_id=977

I'm happy to hear alternatives - this is a live issue for us at the moment.
Our current proposed workaround is to link the media object to a separate
transcript, e.g.:

<sec>
  <fig id="video1" fig-type="video">
    <object-id pub-id-type="doi"> ... </object-id>
    <label>Video 1</label>
    <caption>
      <p> ... </p>
    </caption>
    <media content-type="brightcove" mimetype="video">
      <object-id pub-id-type="videoid"> ... </object-id>
      <xref ref-type="sec" rid="sec2"/>
    </media>
  </fig>
</sec>
<sec id="sec2" sec-type="transcript">
... [the transcript] ...
</sec>

Kind regards,
Mark

Do you want to?

Hi Everyone,

Back in December there was some discussion on this list about tagging
transcript with video materials. The JATS Standing Committee is digging into
this.

If you have any good solutions or suggestions, please send them to this list
or to me directly at beck@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks, See you at JATS-Con
Jeff
