A book is a logical construct that may be physically several volumes. In this
case, book-meta/book-volume-number is available to record the volume of a
multi-volume book.

A collection is a logical construct that is (usually) several books. In this
case, collection-meta/volume-in-collection/volume-number would hold the number
of this "book" in the collection.

So, if an object is a 2-volume "book" that is the 3rd item in a collection,
the metadata for the second volume of that "book" would include:
   collection-meta/volume-in-collection/volume-number 3
   book-meta/book-volume-number 2

Does that help?
