Several thoughts:
 - sub-article seems like a good place to put this
 - in addition, I suggest pub-date(s) identifying the correction
   in the sub-article like:
<pub-date pub-type="corrected">
   <string-date>
   <month number="1">January</month> <day>27</day>, <year>2022</year>
   </string-date>
</pub-date>

and in the main article, adding a date to history with the correction date.
Something like:

  <date date-type="corrected">
    <day>27</day><month>01</month><year>2022</year>
  </date>
</history>
