[xsl] Client side processing with Saxon, Rule Manager vs. Style Sheet

If I am doing client side procesing with Saxon and I'm interested in performance
and my xml documents are under 50k, can I expect any differences in peformance
if I am doing Rule based processing vs. supplying the XSL Style sheet to be
processed?
