If your data was single-escaped, i.e. if it read:

<p>&lt;b&gt;Some text&lt;/b&gt; ...

then I would chide you gently to say that when nesting XML inside XML, it's
best not to hide the markup by escaping it; and then I would tell you how to
get out of the predicament by using disable-output-escaping="yes".

But your nested XML is double-escaped, that is the "<" is represented not as
"&lt;" but as "&amp;lt;". So you'll have to put it through two
transformations, each of which removes one layer of escaping by using d-o-e.

This is really bad news, and one really must question why such an
extraordinary data representation was chosen in the first place.
