No.\see the FAQ. It only displays like that if your browser is set up
incorrectly and is not understanding utf-8 encoding. If that is so
then just ouput in latin 1 by using
<xsl:output encoding="iso-8859-1"/>
then characters that are not in latin 1 will be output using character
references.
