<![CDATA[ This says that the following < are not element markup but just character data so <xsl:value-of sel is not an xsl:value of element, it's just the characters < x s l : v a l u e - o f You do want this to be taken as an xsl element not as characters, so just remove your <![CDATA section. The _only_ thing it is doing is stopping <xsl:value-of from working. If you are generating xhtml rather than html you definitely don't want <xsl:comment> either, it's not an XSL error, but an xhtml system will take that as a comment and not pass the contents to the javascript interpreter .
