Erm... I'm not sure if I understood your question, but the short answer is no. If you want LATIN SMALL E WITH ACUTE character, use &#xE9; in your stylesheet, and if you've set the output method to HTML, it will be output as &eacute;, and as character entity reference or the character itself with XML output method. See the XSLT FAQ for more info on entities.
