This is a FAQ, answered for instance in: http://www.greenbytes.de/xmlfaq.html#ANSWER-xslt-vs-namespaces BTW: "urn:DTD922" isn't a valid URI, as it uses the "urn" scheme, yet doesn't conform to the URN syntax (not speaking of registration issues).
