And now that you have reminded me, I seem to remember that the last time I did this, I did it just this way, with a separate namespace for the lookup table. Too many months have passed... At any rate, it is convenient to stick the table into the stylesheet (unless you need to change the lookup table from time to time, in which case you might want to have it separate after all).
