thanks a lot for your hints. My solution looks a bit different, but is based on your input. I use a XPath expression similar to your' as a parameter for the XPathDirectoryGenerator (< generator.html>) in cocoon. As a result I get a file consisting of the contents of all those little files meeting the condition audience = internal.
