Subject: [xsl] sorting and preceding-sibling - only print *first* in sorted list?? From: <ethan.kalfus@xxxxxxx> Date: Wed, 13 Oct 2004 15:38:46 -0400 |
<I was trying to use "preceding-sibling" to figure out if the previous sibling ***in sorted order*** had the same district, but I've now figured out after reading on the subject that "preceding-sibling" does not operate on the sorted tree - instead it operates on the original tree that is in "document" order. > Could you tell me where you've read this about "preceding-sibling"? I'm a newbie as well and haven't read this so far in any of the 4 XSLT books I have. In fact, Doug Tidwell's "XSLT" (O'Reilly) contains an example of grouping that seems to contradict your statement (p. 139, "Grouping Nodes"). I have an XSLT that depends on preceding-sibling working with a sorted node set, so I would be very interested to know if what you say is true. Thanks.
