I tried ../preceding-sibling/SubDiv1 = SubDiv1,

You don't have any elements named preceding-sibling.

You meant preceding-sibling::*, that is, elements of any name on the
preceding-sibling axis.

If only people would write schema-aware code, such errors would be caught so
much more easily!
