Hello,

can I use the value of an imported variable in its override definition?

no, xsl:import is (essentially) a compile time directive telling the system which definition to use. The definitions that are hidden by the import may never be evaluated at all. (There is no equivalent to <xsl:apply-imports/>)

If you need both definitions you need to give the top level variable a different name.
