This worked but I needed to modify slightly to be working with the parent of
the current text() node:

../preceding-sibling::node()  [1]
[self::processing-instruction('ModuleStart')]

preceding-sibling::node()  [1]  [self::processing-instruction('ModuleStart')]


This assumes that you have specified:

 <xsl:strip-space elements="*"/>
