I can add an EntityResolver, but that can only redirect to an exisitng DTD. When redirecting to an empty DTD I get messages on undefined elements (it 'finds' a DTD but elements in the XML are not defined in there.)
surely it only does that if validating? Can't you redirect any dtd to one standard (empty) dtd and not validate, then as far as xml is concerned the external dtd reference is satisfied so any undefined entity should be a fatal error.
