To be sure, those who learn XSLT typically learn the XML stack and lots more related to it, and they know how to learn. But hey, I'm not an industry expert--I came into this as an English professor (what am I doing here? I'm one of those interlopers from the Digital Humanities). The tech world is new to me, and to my students as well--it would be good to have a sense of what kinds of work they're best suited for, the ones who really take to the XSLT, that is.
