Greetings Concerning Fred Gertler, Head, Customer Services, Michel Orradre Library -recent post It is certainly an odd situation that hard copy mail should find itself shared via e-mail with others. Conversely, it is odd to find that both hardcopy and email communication on presumably the same matters are conducted in the first place. Why is this so? There appears to be a general understanding that email conducted on corporate equipment belongs to the corporation and not the individual. This issue can be contentious concerning private mail not concerning employment duties. However, for this reason most people carry several e-mail accounts. There is certainly a privacy issue involved, especially where the law suggests that the owner / service provider has a duty of care to ensure that the service they provide does not involve illegal or offensive activity etc..
