Subject: ILL, copyright, and e-reserves From: "Valerie A. Lang" <langval@xxxxxxxx> Date: Thu, 19 Feb 2004 09:55:08 -0500 |
Hello everyone, Is it a violation of copyright law to place articles on electronic reserve, which have been obtained via interlibrary loan??? Scenario: a faculty member wants an article on reserve, but the library does not have the article in its periodical or electronic database collection. The library (librarian) as a result requests the text of the article via ILL. When the article arrives it is put on reserve. Is this permissible? The various sources devoted to ILL copyright matters, which I have found, do not address the issue of putting such articles on reserve. Many thanks, Val Valerie A. Lang, J.D., M.L.S.
