"For a time in the late 1980s and early 1990s you hadn't arrived as a

Against perpetual copyright
A Lessig Wiki
http://wiki.lessig.org/index.php/Against_perpetual_copyright

"In a New York Times op-ed article on May 20, 2007 ("A Great Idea Lives
Forever. Shouldn't Its Copyright?"), Mark Helprin suggests that
copyrights, like physical property rights, should last forever. But in
fact, copyrights and physical property rights are vastly different
domains, both inherently and in their effects on society. A closer look
at the consequences of perpetual copyright shows Helprin's suggestion to
be based on faulty arguments."

than simply get the word out about the value of copyright-it wants to
actively strengthen current copyright law."

institution is overreaching by claiming copyright or control over images
that are in the public domain."

Blog: Perfect 10 v. Google
By Lolly Gasaway, (c) ollectanea Blog, May 23, 2007

"Last week the 9th Circuit held in the Perfect 10 v. Google case that
use of thumbnail images for a visual image search engine is fair use.
Does this sound like de ja vu? Well, in early 2006 a California federal
district court appeared to ignore the earlier holding by the 9th Circuit
in Kelly v. ArribaSoft which first dealt with the issue of use of
thumbnail images in a visual image search engine and found that use was
fair use."
