I might tell the parent to look at 602(a)(2) of the Copyright Act. It 
makes it clear that if the parent had purchased the title directly 
from Malaysia, she would have done nothing wrong.  The problem, if 
one exists, is with the vendor or with Amazon, and not with the parent.
