Subject: Kodachrome slide to digital images From: "Susan Payne" <paynes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Wed, 6 Jan 2010 15:35:07 -0500 |
This is my problem. Will we be violating copyright if we change the Kodachromes to digital? Read the instructor's request below: thanks for your guidance. One of our clinical coordinators asked the following: I am planning to convert some old kodachrome images to computer disks for use exclusively in the classroom not to be distributed to students or for outside use. These materials have been purchased for over 5-10 years from both textbook companies we have used and credentialing institutions that sell these for educational use. What procedures do I need to follow? There are approximately 1000 images from several sources. She clarified a little more: There are more current images for sale digitally, but these have been in our possession for 5-10 years and were originally purchased from these agencies as Kodachromes. The issue may be that we still use the publishers for some text books, but some of these have been from textbooks that are for reference not adopted copies at this time. The images are scientific medical images such as parasites or blood cells not visual art work. Susan G.
