The University of Maryland University College 
seeks an Assistant Director,
Development and Outreach for the Center for Intellectual Property (CIP).
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for
managing all CIP development and outreach efforts of the CIP. CIP has a small
staff that oversees the delivery of professional certifications in IP
management and a growing member community of close to 400 individuals and 29
institutional members, representing over 3,500 affiliated staff.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Managing effective marketing and outreach efforts for all CIP educational
programs, members, and potential members; Managing the development of
effective outreach to foundations, government agencies and corporations to
support CIP programs, initiatives, and projects; Assisting the Executive
Director identify and obtain sponsor support for the CIP symposium; Assisting
the Executive Director expand and manage the CIP Advisory Board; Performing
other job related duties as assigned.
Required education and experience: Bachelor's degree 
required in related
field; five (5) years of business/membership development experience; proven
track record of expanding and retaining client/member base; three (3) years
experience in developing and crafting marketing messages and campaigns that
increased clientele/membership (particularly e-mail and web-based marketing);
a portfolio of past development success and marketing campaign success; must
be a highly entrepreneurial, strategic, collegial team player; an outstanding
oral and written 
communicator who can craft effective messages for outreach;
excellent strategic thinking, project management and time management skills;
outstanding interpersonal skills; a team player; ability to handle multiple
tasks, experience using social media & web for client/member base expansion
and web editing/HTML skills; and experience developing proposals and
presentations for clients, foundations or potential funding organizations.
Preferred education and experience: MBA and experience with 
Excel,
PowerPoint, People Soft, and Membership Management platforms.POSITION

practitioners and experts for sessions lasting 50-90 minutes. They may consist
of individual presentations, case studies, research reports, panel
discussions, or other presentation formats and must fit into one of the three
tracks being offered:
