Tapes are certainly a lot cheaper to make, but I think the number of
people out there that would buy carts outnumber Supercharger owners at
least 10-1. I'm only guessing at that number, though I suspect it could
be a lot higher than that... So ten (or more) times as many potential
users is why I'm only considering a stock 2600 game right now. Emulated
play is likely as far as most of these projects will ever get, but if
going beyond that, a cart would be better than a tape, IMO.

BTW, in response to the original question, I have a game in the works,
though on hold for a while. It's a driving/shooting game kinda best
imagined as Wipeout/2600. I've got a pretty nice horizon background and
blocky cars that move toward and back from it in 1st person view, with
solid control and collision detection. I need to work on all the gory
details (sound, scoring, track design, explosions, better line/arc
equations for more realistic look/movements, etc.) but haven't had much
time lately. Also, I did most of the work a few months ago under DOS
and am now using Unix and haven't had as much luck with the tools I've
found so far (other than the good Unix version of the Stella emulator).
When I get more time, I'll prolly just set up a DOS PC and carry on that
way.

Also, I didn't see a response from Russ Perry or Glenn Bussell who were
chatting about a 2600 version of Daleks a few months ago. I was just
yesterday thinking about the memory shortage problems with that one...
Either of you guys still planning on doing that?
