>>>> One could _definitely_ make a prettier version of Tetris than Tetris Jr. on the VCS, with the same cool features. And here's the kicker: you can select a game variation by number, the traditional way for the VCS. <<<< Not to beat a dead horse but I really think that programmers should steer away from Tetris clones, no matter how novel the approach. There are enough Tetris clones for the 2600 including one official release Klax (PAL). Not only that, but the genre itself is very tired these days. Even Space Invaders-style shooters have more life left in them since they went out of favor years ago so what's old can feel new again. Tetris clones are too ubiquitous for every platform imaginable. It's a fine exercise for programmers who are cutting their teeth, but I really think that there are other fish to fry. If you are going to put so much effort into 2600 programming, I just feel that you should try to work on an original concept, or at least the first attempt for the 2600. There are many people who will simply not appreciate yet another Tetris clone, no matter how good. If you want to try other simple games using mostly blocky graphics you could attempt an Arkanoid clone or try updating Warlords a bit. That's my stance on it. -- Archives updated once/day at http://www.biglist.com/lists/stella/archives/ Unsubscribing and other info at http://www.biglist.com/lists/stella/stella.html
