I think time will eventually reveal the truth on any and all unfinished
Atari products. Even lab protos owned by original programmers have been
finding their way through collectors circles. You certainly don't think
all those prototypes were originally owned by an average joe, do you??
Obviously some of these programmers felt these things were worthless over
time and gave them away at flea markets or something. Aside from Tempest,
and Save Mary which Russ won't let out of his possession, there aren't any
other Atari 2600 protos I know of which haven't had their EPROM read.
Those that remain elusive probably never made it out of alpha.
