Subject: [stella] horizontal timing issues From: gentlben@xxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Sat, 03 Jul 1999 11:14:42 -0700 |
yeah, its me again...im beginning to really experiment with the 2600 stuff now, and ive a few questions related to horizontal stuff: 1. ive noticed that theres a conflict (well, sort of) between the stella document and nick bensema's guide to cycle counting... nick's document says that the TIA registers are read only ever 5 cycles, while the stella document it merely takes 5 cycles to write to them... i mused with the idea of working with the DEY-BNE loop but i noticed that if the branch is not taken, it only takes 4 cycles...would the TIA round this to a multiple of 15 automatically, or would this throw timing off by 3 color clocks? 2. does it matter whether i use the RESXX registers first or the horizontal movement registers? dee -- Archives (includes files) at http://www.biglist.com/lists/stella/archives/ Unsub & more at http://www.biglist.com/lists/stella/
