No, the Gameboy Advance uses a chip not entirely unlike the 6502.  At least,
it's nothing like a Z80 :)

No, I don't think I could make a living programming 2600 games.  If I did,
I'd be rolling out 2600 games as fast as I could make 'em... coz its fun!
Let's say I sell 200 carts of Qb (which I doubt)...  possibly $10 profit
each (maybe more, maybe less... depends on material costs).   So, that would
be $2000.  Development time: 2 months, give or take.  $1000/month.  Now take
out tax.  Maybe $8K/year... if I write non-stop and manage to sell 200 carts
of each.  Even if I doubled the number of games I wrote,  the income would
be rather low.  Not viable, I think.
