I've tried the game in z26 (with ALT-9). The NTSC version always
produces slightly more than 262 lines when a new game starts (i found
265..267). That is, because the long running timer is asked to late, so
you don't catch the *first* occurrence of a zero value in that timer.

So, whatever you are doing during overscan at the end of the previous
game or the start of the next one, it lasts to long.
